Anchorage, Turnagain Arm and Alyeska

Overnight RV parking and entertainment Alaska style!

Views of peaks in Alaska's Chugach State Park from Alyeska's upper terminal.

The gang is 'all good' for the next run.

Ice flows down Knik Arm towards Cook Inlet. Standing near the outlet of Ship Creek overlooking Knik Arm. Out of frame to my right is Elmendorf Airforce Base. The Port of Anchorage is out of view to my left buried under what appeared to be pack ice over five feet thick in places.

Anchorage panorama from near the outlet of Ship Creek. We parked the RVs and overnighted here on our second night in Alaska (scroll to view).

The drive to Girdwood (Alyeska ski resort) follows along the northern shore of Turnagain Arm.

Looking at Alyeska ski resort from the road leading to Girdwood.

The tram leaves the Alyeska Prince Hotel and climbs 2,025' to reach the upper terminal. The resort's North Face (in background) offers some of the steepest and most exciting terrain at Alyeska. See if you can beat the tram as it makes the 3.5 minute trip back down!

Overlooking Turnagain Arm from the upper terminal.

Interesting ceiling display in lobby of Alyeska Prince Hotel.

Beer and bonding at Alyeska's parking lot after a day of flat light and hard-packed snow.
